In Kentucky, four schools have Varsity programs. Two programs compete at the NCAA Division 1 level and two at the Division 3 level.
In order to play at the Varsity level in college, athletes typically have to be recruited out of high school.
At the Division 1 level, the University of Louisville competes in the ACC and Bellarmine University competes in the MAC. At the Division 3 level, Centre College and Transylvania University both compete in the SAA.
