In Ohio, 10 schools have Varsity programs.
4 are Division I: Ohio State University, Ohio University, Kent State University, and Miami University.
6 are Division III: Oberlin College, Kenyon College, Wittenberg University, Denison University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and College of Wooster.
In order to play at the Varsity level in college, athletes typically have to be recruited out of high school.

Some colleges also have Club Field Hockey teams. Club teams can be joined by anyone attending the university, and the competition and commitment level is a step down from Varsity programs.
