Keely Tamer, Great Lakes Regional Field Hockey Executive Director and Head Coach at Dexter High School (Dexter, Michigan), is the recipient of Max Field Hockey's 2023 High School Coach of the Year Award.

"Tamer led Dexter to the program’s second straight Michigan Division 2 State Championship, defeating Chelsea 3-0 in the final.  The Dreadnaughts finished the season 20-1-2, with 2 wins over Division 1 State Champions Ann Arbor Pioneer in the regular season and claimed the #10 spot in the West/Mid-West Region final rankings.  The 2023 title is the program’s 5th title overall since their inaugural season in 2010 (2 titles in Division 1, 3 titles in Division 2)."

GLRFH Executive Director, Keely Tamer, is also the current President of the Michigan Chapter of USA Field Hockey.  Tamer has been a leader for steady and consistent growth of the sport, across all levels, in the State of Michigan over the last decade. Tamer recently been the driver of new grassroots, community programming and local summer league play across the state, with plans for continued growth in 2024. 

Tamer was part of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)-USA Field Hockey Sustain and Grow High School Field Hockey Committee, as a representative for growth and an advocate for increased access across the sport. 

Tamer has served on the NFHCA Strategic Planning Committee and is currently part of the USA Field Hockey Task Force for local growth and development. 

Her passion for sport and for growing the game of field hockey has motivated dozens of coaches and hundreds of athletes. By establishing Great Lakes Regional Field Hockey in 2019, Tamer created a non-profit regional platform for the great lakes field hockey community to network, growth and thrive. Field Hockey First Fundraising Campaign

GLRFH’s $2,150,000, fundraising campaign to build a non-infill turf field where field hockey is first is an investment in a growing community who cares about the health and well-being of its members. Supporting GLRFH will help increase visibility, access, and opportunity for girls in sports, both locally and regionally throughout the Midwest.
