Michigan High School Field Hockey's 1st Annual Senior Game

On October 30th, at The Legacy Center Sports Complex in Brighton, MI, the MHSFCA in conjunction with Great Lakes Regional Field Hockey, hosted Senior Games for The Michigan High School Field Hockey league.


All Participating Division 1 & Division 2 Seniors During the Senior Recognition Program.

Senior Games 2022! Congratulations to those Seniors selected to play in the Division 1 & Division 2 games.

 

(Brighton, MI) More than 60 Michigan high school senior field hockey players, representing 28 of the 32 schools in the MHSFHL, gathered together on Sunday, October 30th, at Legacy Center Sports Complex to participate in the 1st Annual Division 1 and Division 2 Senior Games. Participating seniors were selected by their high school programs and were divided into East and West teams for each Division.

The first game of the day was D1 West vs. D1 East.  Teams representing D1 West were: Clarkston, Forest Hills, Hartland, Novi, Pioneer, Rockford & Skyline. Teams representing D1 East were: Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn, Edsel Ford, Farmington, PCEP, Saline & West Bloomfield. 

The final score for the Division 1 Senior Game was West - 5, East - 0.

In the break between divisional games, the All-Senior Recognition Program honored Senior All-Academic Award recipients (those with a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher) as well as the 2022 Roxy Block Award Recipient, Senior Brecken Winkel, from East Grand Rapids High School. Seniors were also asked to step out for congratulatory recognition if they were Team Captains, State Championship Winners, All-State Award recipients, Dream Team Selections, and if they plan to play at the college level in 2023.

The Division 2 game followed the Senior Recognition Program, where East met West on the field for the second celebratory game of the day. Teams representing D2 East were: Detroit Country Day, Grosse Pointe North, Grosse Pointe South, Marian, Mercy & University Liggett. Teams representing D2 West were: Academy Sacred Heart, Chelsea, Cranbrook, Dexter, Greenhills, East Grand Rapids, Father Gabriel Richard & Pinckney.

The final score was D2 West - 2, East - 1. 

The games were sponsored by the Michigan High School Field Hockey Coaches Association, Great Lakes Regional Field HockeyMichigan Chapter of USA Field Hockey & Legacy Field Hockey. The Michigan Chapter sold merchandise in the spectator mezzanine, and GLRFH representatives shared information on the water-based field hockey turf planned for the Legacy Center, rousing community support around the 2 million dollar Field First Fundraiser Campaign

All proceeds from the games will go towards grant funding to support both new and existing field hockey programming in the state.
