Great Lakes Regional Field Hockey is hosting a series of sessions designed to help athletes learn what it takes to maximize performance.

GLRFH will kick off it's SPRING ATHLETE ENRICHMENT SERIES with three dynamic sessions designed for the student-athlete, "Nutrition: How to Fuel Your Body Properly for Sport," "Leadership and Mentality During Sports, " (POSTPONED) and "Body Mechanics: Multi-Directional Speed and Strength".

Nutrition (POSTPONED) will focus on how to properly fuel your body in a Virtual Meeting format. This program will focus on realistic scenarios such as tournament days or weekends. Each presentation will be personalized to the age group (sessions will run U16s & U19s/ U12s & U14s) and the specific needs around training and nutrition based on the age of the athlete. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions about the presentation or specific nutrition needs.

This seminar will be presented by Holly Stark. Holly holds a MS in Exercise Physiology from CMU. She also maintains certificates in Strength and Conditioning from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and Sports Nutrition and Performance. Holly has served as CMU’s Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at CMU. As director of the program she developed a Nutrition handbook that is the foundation for performance nutrition for all CMU’s varsity sports.

Leadership and Mentality During Sports (POSTPONED)has been specifically created for Great Lakes Region Field Hockey by one of the best leadership groups in the country. The Virtual presentation will focus on mentality and leadership during sports and everyday activities. Victory Road will teach the importance of being a leader and empowering athletes to uphold high standards.

"Through the uncompromising standards Victory Road has set, we have assembled together a team of the most highly regarded leadership experts in the world. Leaders and mentors bred from America’s elite special operations community who powered and led a nation, from the high performance sports world who have built and empowered our country’s elite high performance teams, and from elite corporate leadership teams who have helped corporate organizations adapt and thrive as they revamp their culture from ground zero to greatness."

Body Mechanics will run at Father Gabriel Richard High School and is open to Athletes 13+. In order to maximize performance levels,  athletes must train for speed, strength, and agility.

In this series athletes will learn to be stronger and faster in multiple planes of motion, along with improving first step quickness. This 4-session clinic will train the factors that determine speed of motion including coordination, reactivity, and stability. By optimizing body mechanics and strength, athletes in this series will see a change in their ability to move effectively on the field.

Presenters: Jenny Kempf and Corey Block are physical therapists with specialty certifications in sports. Both are former D1 collegiate athletes in basketball and field hockey, respectively. They have over 15 years combined experience training athletes to improve upon their fundamental patterns that leads to enhanced performance in sport. They have a passion for developing youth sports performance and injury resilience.
