Hello Field Hockey Enthusiasts!

Over the past couple months, Great Lakes Regional Field Hockey has supported and created new opportunities for adults.

Great Lakes has consistently supported the Adult league from winter to summer. In the winter and spring, the adult league ran out of Legacy Center in Brighton and showed high levels of participation and enjoyment. Come summertime, Great Lakes established the league to take place at FGR and Dexter with more than 30 people coming out to play. Most of these people were brand new to field hockey, but they have come to love the sport and learn new skills. Great Lakes has been thrilled by the turnout at these leagues because the goal is for field hockey to grow in Michigan, and to do so, it has to grow at all ages to be sustainable.

On June 12th, Great Lakes sent two teams to compete in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Midwest Classic tournament. One team competed in the social league and the other in the competitive league. This tournament marked the first time that Great Lakes has ever put together an adult team that has competed in a regional tournament. Although it was incredibly hot and there was a huge cicada swarm, both teams had a great time playing and learning more about the sport.

Great Lakes hopes to continue running an adult league year round while creating more opportunities for competition and tournament play in the region. In order to do so, Great Lakes needs your help. Please consider making a donation or spreading the word!
