Community Resources

Each year GLRFH grants up to $1,000 per program, with a maximum of $5,000 given annually.
The purpose of the GLRFH grant program is to grow the game and foster sustainable field hockey programs in the Great Lakes Region: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
GLRFH’s strategic plan recognizes that developing the entire region is vital to the sustainability of the sport.
COACH DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

Eligibility:

The grant is awarded at the program level for two coaches identified in the applicant’s field hockey community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This Grant Provides:

  1. GLRFH Coach Membership for each individual awardee & access to GLRFH’s extensive coach education video library. 
  2. USA Field Hockey coaching membership for each individual awardee.
  3. National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Learning Center Modules:
  4. Coaching Field Hockey; Coaching Field Hockey GK; Bullying, Hazing and Inappropriate Behaviors; Concussion in Sports; and Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. 
  5. Community Coach Education Support to assist awardees in planning a field hockey coaching seminar held in the applicant’s community.
  6. A GLRFH Coach Educator will come to your community prior to the start of your new programming to educate parent volunteers, coaches from other sports, and individuals with field hockey playing experience but no prior coaching experience. 

Details to Note Before Applying:

  • Grant recipients must have a minimum of 10 adults who are interested in learning about coaching field hockey for the seminar. 
  • Seminar length is 2-3 hours at a venue provided by awardee.
  • Mentorship: (6) 30 minute calls with GLRFH program coordinator and/or lead coaches to mentor and facilitate development of the field hockey program in your community.

Eligibility:

This grant is available to NEW PROGRAMS at the Rec & Ed, Middle School and High School levels throughout the Great Lakes Region and is awarded to provide funding support for foundational expenses required to launch programming. 

 

This Grant Provides:

  1. The applicant an opportunity for grant funding to help support foundational programming needs.

 

 

 

Details to Note Before Applying:

  • Submitting a complete list of general support items needed.
  • GLRFH requires that all granted support items stay with the program + have a minimum use cycle of 3 years.
  • General support items must support a minimum of 20 field hockey athletes.

Eligibility:

This grant is available to Middle School and High School Programs throughout the Great Lakes Region.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jersey Grant:
The jersey grant is awarded at the program level. Awardees will work with our uniform supplier Cliff Keen to design custom, fully sublimated, team jerseys from three options:

  1. 20 reversible jerseys – home and away (8.2 oz poly/spandex fabric).
    Teams can purchase additional tops at $50 per jersey
  2. 14 non-reversible jerseys, home and away sets (7.0 oz poly/spandex fabric).
    Teams can purchase additional tops at $35 per jersey ($70 per set
  3. 16 non-reversible jerseys, home and away sets (jersey fabric)
  4. Teams can purchase additional tops at $30 per jersey ($60 per set)

Skirt/Skort Grant:
The skirt/skort grant is awarded at the program level. Awardees will work with our uniform supplier Cliff Keen to design custom, fully sublimated, team jerseys from two options:

  1. 20 Fully sublimated skorts (with compression short).
    Teams can purchase additional bottoms at $50 per skort
  2. 25 Fully sublimated skirts (without compression short).
    Teams can purchase additional bottoms at $50 per skirt

Support from the athletic department/organization in a manner that recognizes Title IX law and supports the spirit of the law.

Financial structure and stability to support the current and future needs and function of the program.
