Each year GLRFH grants up to $1,000 per program, with a maximum of $5,000 given annually to programs seeking support.
The purpose of the GLRFH grant program is to grow the game and foster sustainable field hockey programs in the Great Lakes Region: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin.
GLRFH's strategic plan recognizes that developing the entire region is vital to the sustainability of the sport.
GLRFH believes that thriving programs have 5 key commonalities:
Participation numbers to support all high school varsity and junior varsity teams with qualified coaches.
Pipeline of local access to recreational/middle school field hockey within the community.
Stability in the school district or club/recreational facility ensuring the program is owned by the larger organization and not the coach or parent group.
Support from the athletic department/organization in a manner that recognizes Title IX law and supports the spirit of the law.
Financialstructure and stability to support the current and future needs and function of the program.
