Leslie Fry - Chairperson

As Chairperson, Leslie bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to guide the GLRFH mission.   Leslie was a driving force in the development of key field hockey programs in the Washtenaw County Area including the Ann Arbor Rec and Ed program, Washtenaw Whippets, Honey Creek middle school field hockey and the high school programs at Saline, Dexter and Chelsea.  

In addition to her field hockey resume, Leslie has extensive non-profit experience as the Co-Founder and Director of several organizations including School Age Child Care and Honey Creek Community Schools.  Since the 1980s, her leadership roles in private and public nonprofits have included executive director positions as well as board member, with a strong focus on committee work supporting all aspects of strategic planning, finance, bylaws and policy structure. 


Board Secretary - Claudia Cabrera Keen

Claudia Cabrera Keen - Secretary

Claudia, an Ann Arbor native and field hockey enthusiast, has been involved in field hockey in every capacity.  A player herself, Claudia became a development specialist when she joined the coaching ranks.  Before her graduation from the University of Michigan, Claudia took on the role of junior varsity coach at Pioneer High School.  She then followed her passion for development by coaching in the Ann Arbor Rec and Ed program for over 10 years.  Additionally, Claudia is the Business Director for Pinnacle FIeld Hockey, a top-ranked club from Ann Arbor. 


Board Treasurer - Nick Fry

Nick Fry - Treasurer

Nick Fry brings over 30 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant, an investment advisor, and a business owner to the GLRFH team. Nick's expertise in financial reporting, annual budget planning and developing financial procedures, combined with his previous experience serving as Vice President and Treasurer on other boards, are an asset to the GLRFH organization. Nick is also a certified boat captain and in his free time he enjoys sailing with his family.


Board Member - Laura Jones

Laura Jones - Member at Large

Laura Jones is enjoying a second career as an Education Advocate, serving students and families who face issues with education.   She was named to The Governors Task Force for Special Education Reform - 2015 to 2018 (Michigan) and helped to create the state reform for seclusion and restraint.  Laura was instrumental in working with the legislature and former Lt. Governor Calley to maintain standards IDEA Eligibility in Michigan. (2015).   Laura continues to lobby for education policy reform.

Laura's background includes leading the start up of a successful new automotive business division in the automation & identification industry for National Paper & Packaging.  During this launch, Laura invented and received a patent for a new identification automation technology, which spurred the growth of that division.  Laura built on her experience in the material science divisions of several companies, focused on covert identification, automation and emerging technologies.  She is a former member and presenter at the International Association of Automotive Investigators and a recognized SME by the US Army. 

Her connections to field hockey are familial:  daughter Maggie, from Dexter, MI is carrying on the family tradition of her aunts,  Deanna Jones (Smith Academy), Jessica Jones (All American, Smith College), grandmother SueEllen Jones (Brown), and Great Grandmother Victoria Brown (Nicsevic) all from the field hockey town of Hatfield, Massachusetts. 


Board Member - Clare Brush

CLARE BRUSH - MEMBER AT LARGE

Clare started playing field hockey in middle school with Pinnacle Field Hockey Club in Ann Arbor,  and continued on to earn top accolades at Pioneer High School (Ann Arbor, MI). She was a two-time All-State selection and Team MVP ('14 &'15), three-time State Champion ('12, '14, '15), 2015 Team Captain, and 2015 Michigan Field Hockey Player of the Year.  

Clare went on to play collegiately at the University of Michigan, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Economics, with a minor in Sustainability ('20). In 2021, Brush also earned a Masters of Management Degree from University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. She was a two-time Team Captain ('19 & '20), and was Michigan’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award two seasons in a row ('19 & '20), earning NFHCA Collegiate National Academic & Academic All-Big Ten Awards for four consecutive years. Clare is currently an Account Manager at American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM).

GIa Biagi - MEMBER AT LARGE

Gia Biagi grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts and played field hockey at Amherst Regional High School. From there, she was recruited to play collegiate field hockey at the University of Michigan (1992-1995) where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She also holds a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Gia Biagi is Principal of Urbanism & Civic Impact at Studio Gang, where she leads the office's urban design and planning work. This practice unites revitalizing cities with emphasis on ecology, mobility, and community with a focus on how to reimagine public assets, infrastructure, and institutions to be more relevant, connected, and responsive to the people and places where they reside.
Biagi’s career spans private practice and public service and has established her as a visionary leader in city planning, urban design, and infrastructure management.  She recently served as head of Chicago’s Department of Transportation where she delivered hundreds of innovative transportation projects and created and implemented a nation-leading strategic plan focused on equity, mobility, and transformational neighborhood investments.  She has held various other private and public roles across the fields of housing, parks, and transportation. 
Biagi currently serves on the board of directors for the Shared-Use Mobility Center and was previously on the boards of the National Association of City Transportation Officials, the City Parks Alliance, and NeighborSpace. She is also a member of Lambda Alpha International, an honorary society for the study of land economics.
